Philanthropy:

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Tri Delta has been steadfastly devoted to St. Jude since their commitment in 1999, when the sorority named the organization as their national philanthropic partner. Since that time, Tri Delta chapters across the country have raised money and awareness for the hospital in a variety of ways. The first major project Tri Delta funded for St. Jude was the Teen Room. The Teen Room provides a haven for teenage patients to use the Internet, play video games, watch movies, and hang out with children their own age. Due to the passion and dedication of Tri Delta’s members, this $1 million renovation was completed a full year earlier than anticipated and is an ongoing success that the patients love to use.

In 2006, Tri Delta took on its second inspiring commitment, attempting to name the Patient Care Floor in the Chili's Care Center. To do this, Tri Delta took on the challenge of raising $10 million in 10 years. This floor includes 18 suites for inpatients recovering from bone marrow transplants with adjoining parent rooms, private bathrooms for the patients and their families, a Nintendo® WiiTMand, and two flat-screen TVs. In May 2010, four years after taking on the "10 in 10" challenge, Tri Delta met the $10 million fundraising goal and the floor was named in our honor.

Since July 2010, Tri Delta continues to reach and exceed its fundraising ambitions. We are determined to continue our work for St. Jude and are striving toward our new goal, “$15 in 5”, which is an aggressive attempt to raise $15 million in 5 years in order to name the Specialty Clinic in the Patient Care Center at St. Jude. The Specialty Clinic houses a broad range of services including cardiology, gynecology, immunology, neurology, pain management, pre-operative surgery care and pulmonary care.

We are confident that this goal will soon be achieved and are excited to continue our efforts in hopes of transforming this dream into a beautiful reality!
