Bids for Kids

Bids for Kids is a silent auction held every fall at the Samuel Riggs Alumni Center. Tri Delta invites our friends, family, and the public to come bid on items at this formal, fun event in order to raise money for the children at St. Jude. Local businesses, families, and friends donate all of the items, which allow 100% of the profits to go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and none to be pocketed by outside organizations. Items that are typically featured at Bids for Kids include designer handbags, cameras, jewelry, clothing, concert tickets, restaurant and store gift cards, iPads, iPods, and more!

Give Thanks Walk

The St. Jude Give Thanks Walk always takes place the morning after Bids for Kids in mid November. At the walk, we participate as a Tri Delta team and march alongside other supporters of St. Jude from all over the Maryland area.  Walking before Thanksgiving break allows us to reflect on our lives as well as the lives of those we have touched by being advocates of cancer research. The Give Thanks Walk also reminds us of how blessed we are to have each other and to be members of Tri Delta, where we are given opportunities to learn and grow every day. Between Bids for Kids and the Give Thanks Walk, we raised $28,125.87 in just 24 hours this past November.

Flapjack Attack

Flapjack Attack is an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast held at night! Sisters work in the kitchen making pancakes and serve as waitresses for the guests who come to eat and celebrate giving back to the children at St. Jude. Every year we have a DJ, lights, decorations and vendors who come with free giveaways and prizes for those eating pancakes at our chapter house. Flapjack Attack is always a huge hit, attracting other members of Greek life, athletes and other students on campus.  This spring, we charged $5 a ticket and $7 at the door and raised $3,537 for the children at St. Jude! We are so proud of this accomplishment and can’t wait to try to outdo ourselves this coming spring.
